Since I was having some issues with lighting, like npcs' hair, plants and hay rooftops flickering from bright to dark when a light source was nearby, I have tried to disable the folder mentioned in the thread title, as one user (Wiepman) suggested me. Now, everything looks totally fine apparently, and the flickering bug has disappeared. I wanted to ask if it's safe to disable that folder, or is it possible that it might cause some other graphical anomaly and/or missing features? The flickering happens with OR 7.10 but also with the latest 8.0 beta I've been using for a while. I have an nVidia card (1080 Ti) if it helps.

I'd like to report that disabling that folder also fixes a problem with some column pillars added by Better Cities from the IC arena district. They will look purple/white otherwise, like in this picture: abload.de/img/oblivion_2020_05_31_1vukbk.png

So, just to keep also Wiepman updated: after talking with Alenet, who's been really kind at explaining the whole thing, I found out that disabling that folder will also disable shadows on certain objects in the game world.
My German friend (speaking as a Dutch, isn't universal English language a thing of beauty?)
Yes, I just read your conversation on Discord.
So @alenet didn't only added code-optimization, but also for OR8 has added multiple neat features to the [CameraMode].
I'd be happy to check that one out, once released.
Since the heads up on Bevilex's page about EC no longer compatible with OR 7.x, I just switched to OR's [CameraMode] and I was perfectly fine with it. (never minded the head bobbing)
But currently I'm using GBR 's Enhanced Camera, and I very much appreciate the 1st person actions like mounting a horse.
It works like a charm with Or 7.1, besides one annoying issue: first person view has serious visual garbage, whatever you looked at in the grasses, ghostes to any other view like the sky.
Seems related to AmbientOcclusion If I disable that feature, it disappears, but you don't want that.
Because AO definitely adds to the visuals, you certainly don't want to skip that issue by disabling AO).
Do note: This visual glitch doesn't happen with GBR 's ORLite nor llde 's shared OR8 beta versions.
But GBR 's ORLite doesn't include, (because he slashed) OR's [MountedCombat]/[EquipmentMode].
These are two immersive OR-features I happen to very much appreciate, that completely keeps me from swapping OR to ORLite.
I love to be able to cast a light spell, healing or a fireball, or cast summoning 'helpers' while on horse.
Also Vanilla's constantly shield on wrist looks cumbersome,
So I very much love the OR shield on back, and yes I'm aware of the alternative, but that mod's ancient and sucks balls, because it needs update patches for every new shield or tall weapon mod conjured.
IMHO OR's [EquipmentMode] does a superior job by just making every new conjured mod including such items, just be included to the stash.
Yes, I know and am aware of every quirk which discussions on the Nexus rightfully exposed, Do note: the CTD's caused by these features enabled seems to have been solved with OR 7.1.
But other hindrances unfortunately remained:
For instance: (1) while on horse and horse get's killed? your game needs reloading, because you get a weird camera point of view and can't get out of it.
(2) (both on NPC and player:) sometimes switching hand-to-hand to bow and vice versa, results in the awkward quirk that bow wielder has a shield on their arm.
Alternatively llde 's shared OR8 beta wasn't made with [MountedCombat]/[EquipmentMode] in mind. Because awkward side effect is that most armors equipped appear NSFW.
Back to Topic at hand.
So the "*\ExtraShaders" is (amongst other things) needed for shadows casting on the 'small' objects.
And @alenet is considering interior shadows! Sorta like Open Cities? That would be +1/+10/+100-ish like awesome! Sounds like @alenet's earlier 'semi-retirement' announcement is off the table?
Before Or 7.* was brought to the table, I've tried Shademe,
It sucked balls, very much taxing on fps and would glitch out like a clockwise on certain camera angles shadows just completely disappearing!
Or 7.x does this way better, performance-wise. Also OR's [ShadowMode] *.ini settings are way better comprehensible.
So, for me ShadeMe is not a viable alternative to hack internal shadows.
I don't understand what to set in it's *,ini, and granted I'm a complete moron at understanding programming, but the average user also wouldn't understand and just would ridicule this option as 'stupid',
I might still need to involve myself in the Discord discussion addressing to @alenet the nuke-glitch, because for me that is still hair-pulling...
